Chelsea are still planning to tie Antonio Conte down to a contract extension, despite the Italian signing a new two-year contract on Tuesday, according to the London Evening Standard.
The London Evening Standard report that Conte’s new deal saw his pay packet increase to £9.5M-a-year, but the decision not to extend his contract has left question marks over his long-term future at Stamford Bridge.
However, the London Evening Standard believe that Chelsea fans have nothing to worry about. It is reported that both parties feel as though there is plenty of time to discuss a contract extension, and the two-years remaining on his deal is fine for now.
Conte transformed a side that was in it’s worst shape for more than 20 years into champions. The club should do everything in their power to ensure that he stays at the helm for a very, very long time.
The London Evening Standard’s report gives us plenty to be optimistic about, it doesn’t look as though he’s going anywhere anytime soon.
