Antonio Conte’s good work at Chelsea does not appear to have gone unnoticed.
The Italian took the reins at Stamford Bridge in the summer, with the Blues on the back of a tenth place finish in the Premier League. At the time of writing, Chelsea are now just two wins away from winning the title.
According to the Express, Conte’s success in West London has captured the attention of La Liga heavyweights Barcelona. The Express believe that the Catalan giants are keen to appoint the former Juventus boss as Luis Enrique’s replacement, with the Spaniard set to depart the Nou Camp this summer.
It appears as though Chelsea have already lined up a replacement if Conte does depart this summer. The Express report that Roman Abramovich will look to appoint close friend Leonid Slutsky, who has been living in London since January.
Despite winning the Russian Premier League three times during his time with CSKA Moscow, Slutsky does not have the credentials of the sort of manager the Premier League champions-elect should be looking to appoint. Fingers crossed Conte rejects Barcelona’s advances and stays put.
