Chelsea vice-captain Cesar Azpilicueta won’t surrender hopes of being champions of England this season, The Metro reports.
Manchester City are 11 points clear at the top of the table, ahead of Manchester United and 14 points ahead of Chelsea.
As per The Metro, Azpilicueta has warned the league leaders that Chelsea won’t give up their title defence without a fight.
The Metro quotes Azpilicueta saying:
“We have to believe. When we were top of the table last season, you could feel that other teams kept winning and pushing us.”
Can Manchester City really bottle the title race?
Cesar Azpilicueta has won two league titles at Chelsea since joining the club in 2012.At the moment, all signs point to Pep Guardiola’s side winning the title. The astonishing 17 wins out of 18 league games has put City in a favourable position.
However, we’ve seen crazy things happen in football. Azpilicueta is right to come out as one of the leaders of the team saying we still have a chance.
The best thing Chelsea can do is focus on our own matches, especially over this busy winter period.
