Chelsea have confirmed that the victory parade that was due to be held to celebrate our Premier League triumph has been cancelled.
The club revealed on their website that they feel as though it would be inappropriate to hold a non-ticketed event on the streets of London in wake of Monday’s terrorist attack in Manchester.
It is revealed in the statement that Chelsea feel as though holding such a large event, which would undoubtedly draw a crowd of thousands, would be an unnecessary way to distract the Metropolitan Police as the terror situation in the capital city develops.
It is a great shame that our lives are being governed by a small number of people with evil intentions, but there can be no denying that this is the correct decision from the club. In the interests of the fans, and the people of London, this parade could not have gone ahead as planned.
