Frank Lampard has revealed in his column with the London Evening Standard that he believes Chelsea can go all the way in the Champions League this season.
Lampard played in two Champions League finals during his time with the Blues, the first, we don’t talk about. The second, he captained Chelsea to victory over Bayern Munich in their own backyard as we won the competition for the first time in our history – you know how the story goes.
He knows what it takes to win the Champions League, and he believes that this current Chelsea setup can do so under Antonio Conte’s stewardship. Lampard wrote in his column for the London Evening Standard:
“I think they have the potential to go all the way. Defensively, Chelsea are as good as anybody.”
He added in his column for the London Evening Standard that he feels that Chelsea’s Premier League counterparts are short at the back and will not be able to compete in the manner that his former employers will:
“When I look at the other English teams in the Champions League, some of them will struggle at the back, whereas Chelsea have a great base.”
Let’s hope he’s right!
