Former Chelsea player and assistant coach Ray Wilkins believes that David Luiz is being utilised in the wrong position, the Express reports.
Luiz who played in his natural position at centre-back in the 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace was part of the Blues back line that struggled on Saturday.
The Brazilian’s recent performances have led Wilkins to believe that he’s not a defender and that his best attributes are that of a midfielder as the Express reports.
Wilkins is quoted by the Express saying:
“He is a midfield player because he has a range of passing that is quite exceptional. Plus the fact if he just runs off like a loose cannon, the situation can be saved. ”
Luiz has had experience playing in this position in the 2-1 victory against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley. Whilst in the past partnering Frank Lampard during the Rafael Benitez era.

However, Luiz may just be having a bad patch and could well get back to the form he showed last season.
In last Friday’s press conference, Antonio Conte believes that youngsters Kyle Scott and Ethan Ampadu may be given chances, as reported by Devon Live. Meaning Luiz could stay in defence whilst Kante is injured.
But the bottom line is, Luiz needs to get back to his best as soon as possible, no matter which position he plays in.
