The real reason that Kurt Zouma was not included in Chelsea’s squad travelling to Perth has been revealed.
When Chelsea announced the names of the players that were heading down under, fans were quick to spot a notable absentee.
That man was Zouma, who spend last season out on-loan with Stoke City. Though the Potters went down, he was one of their best players last term.
His absence suggested that an exit could be imminent, but those fears have now been put to bed by Goal reporter Nizaar Kinsella.
Kinsella posted the below tweet on Twitter, revealing that Zouma was left out due to a minor injury, not because of any impending transfer.
FYI: Kurt Zouma missed the trip due to a minor injury. Nothing serious, not to do with his future and he will be back for the European games. He’s one of the high value loanees so it will be interesting to see what Sarri makes of him. #CFC https://t.co/EHvuTQ1egi

Whether Maurizio Sarri can find room for Zouma next term remains to be seen. This could prove to be a big pre-season in the Frenchman’s Chelsea career.
We wish him a speedy recovery, and hope to see him involved soon.
