Chelsea academy product Tammy Abraham has revealed that his future at Stamford Bridge is still unclear.
Sky Sports quote the 19-year-old, who reveals he is in the dark over his future with the Blues, but insists that he is fully focused on the task at hand at Bristol City:
“I’ve heard a few bits, this and that, but I’m not too sure what I’m doing yet and I haven’t spoken to Chelsea about next season. I’m focused here before I end up shooting off back to Chelsea.”
Abraham has been in emphatic form in his first season as a professional footballer. The England U21 international has found the back of the net 26 times in all competitions, including 23 in the Championship – one of the most competitive leagues in the world.
According to Sky Sports, recent reports have suggested that Abraham’s good form will earn him a contract extension with the Blues.
Sky Sports quote the Bristol hitman, who reveals he would be keen to extend his deal with the Premier League leaders, but insists he is yet to receive any contact from his parent club: “There’s nothing yet. I’m not too sure but hopefully there will be [a new contract].”
It seems unlikely that Abraham would be given a considerable role in the squad by Antonio Conte next season. Perhaps a loan to a Premier League side would be the most logical next step for the youngster in order to continue his development.
