Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta believes that the tension around the squad is high after the club’s recent performances, the Metro reports.
The Blues were almost on the end of another upset after salvaging a 3-3 draw with Roma. The Italians came back from 2-0 down to 3-2 up late in the second half. Thankfully, Eden Hazard’s header earned us a crucial point in the Champions League.
Two consecutive defeats in the Premier League to Manchester City and Crystal Palace has seen Antonio Conte’s team drop to fifth in the table, nine points off the pace. These results have led to Azpilicueta conceding that not all is well in the Chelsea camp. Whilst also indicating that we were somewhat fortunate to escape with a point last night, as the Metro reports.
Azpilicueta is quoted by the Metro saying:
“The mood at the moment is not the best. We had the game in our hands when we were 2-0 up, but we also had it lost when we were 2-0 down.”
This current state of mind has had an influence on the way the team’s display on the pitch.
Azpilicueta has been far off his best form in recent matches, which is unlike the 28-year-old. Hopefully for himself and the rest of the team that changes quickly.
