Thibaut Courtois’ agent has revealed that he has regular contact with the Real Madrid hierarchy, report ESPN.
Courtois had a season to forget during Chelsea’s dismal 2015/16 campaign, but was back to his brilliant best last term. The Belgium international won the Premier League Golden Glove for keeping the most clean-sheets in the division, which is testament to his improvement.
However, despite Courtois seemingly having no reason to depart the champions, who look to have a bright future in store under Antonio Conte’s stewardship – it appears as though a move away from Stamford Bridge remains a possiblity.
ESPN quote Courtois’ representative Christophe Henrotay, who reveals that he holds frequent talks with Los Blancos:
“I meet regularly with Real Madrid’s directors and Thibaut’s situation is evaluated. My role is to keep him informed of the situation.”
As ESPN report, Courtois’ Chelsea deal has just two years left to run. We may well find ourselves in a situation next summer where we are forced to cash-in to avoid losing a world-class player on a free transfer.
Hopefully, it won’t come to that, but his agent talking to arguably the biggest club on the planet leaves us Chelsea fans with a right to be anxious.
