Thibaut Courtois has added salt to the wounds of Tottenham and it’s fans by mocking them for using speakers to increase the crowd noise. He claimed that they were not intimidating as they were at White Hart Lane.
Quoted by the Daily Mail, the Chelsea goalkeeper said:
“They have the capacity now to bring a lot of fans into the stadium, but if they make more noise it would be better for them. In the first half, if you have to put some noise over the speakers to make some atmosphere I don’t think it is working very well.”
Courtois did not stop there, however, and went on to say that the fans ‘woke up’ only in the second half when their team was attacking. He also suggested that the main reason for the huge difference in noise levels and intimidation as the fact that the pitch was further away than at White Hart Lane.
Left-wing-back Marcos Alonso stole the show on Sunday as he scored twice to help Chelsea record a 2-1 win over Spurs. None of the Tottenham players managed to find the back of the net and they needed Michy Batshuayi to notch in an unfortunate own goal to get on level terms with Chelsea.
