Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger insists that there is a lot of confidence in the team in the build-up for tomorrow’s match against AS Roma, the club’s official website reports.
The 24-year-old returns to his former club as a visitor when the Blues play the Serie A side on Tuesday night in the Champions League.
Despite receiving racial abuse from Roma fans in the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge, Rudiger respects the Italian club after spending two seasons in the capital. When speaking to chelseafc.com, the German believes recent results have given the team high morale going into the game.
“We go to Rome with confidence. We are back to winning ways and we want to continue.”
A win for the Blues means we may qualify for the knockout stages of the competition if Atletico Madrid fail to beat Qarabag.
Rudiger has been in great form, being solid at the back and scoring his first goal against Everton in the Carabao Cup. The player’s experience of playing at the Stadio Olimpico will be very useful as there’s a good chance he could start the match.
