Alvaro Morata
Alvaro Morata scores late-on to ensure Chelsea's progression to the Carabao Cup semi-finals.

Chelsea are through to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup after defeating AFC Bournemouth 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.

It was, by no means, a game to remember. This competition is clearly not a priority for Antonio Conte, as reflected in his youthful team selection. Ethan Ampadu was given an opportunity to impress in the middle of the back-three, and he grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

In a stale and uneventful affair, it took some smart link-up play from the Chelsea midfield to carve a way through Bournemouth’s defence, and Cesc Fabregas put it on a plate for Willian to give the Premier League champions the lead in front of their home supporters. Click here to see the goal.

Bournemouth dominated the second half, but failed to find a way through Chelsea’s back-line… that was until the 90th minute. Dan Gosling fired home from the edge of the box, with a goal that looked to ensure we’d head into extra-time at the Bridge.

However, Alvaro Morata had other ideas and restored Chelsea’s lead a minute later to ensure our progression into the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup.
