Thibaut Courtois is widely considered one of the best goalkeepers on the planet. His achievements at both Atletico Madrid and Chelsea speak for themselves in that respect. However, it now looks as though the Belgian is looking to add a new element to his game…
When Courtois found Davide Zappacosta down the right channel during Chelsea’s 6-0 victory over Qarabag on Tuesday night, little did he know that the Italian would run the length of the pitch before beating goalkeeper Ibrahim Sehic from an improbable angle.
Zappacosta’s strike meant that Courtois recorded his first ever assist in a Chelsea shirt, and his first in the Champions League. If he is able to channel even an ounce of Cesc Fabregas’ creative ability into himself, then it will not be the last time he sets up one of his teammates for a goal.
Courtois was visibly chuffed with his rare assist. He took to Twitter following the game to not only celebrate his side’s victory, but also the goal he provided for Zappacosta.
