Deadline day negotiations between Arsenal and Chelsea may not be finished just yet.
The Premier League champions have welcomed the arrival of Olivier Giroud from the Gunners on an 18-month contract, with the option to extend for a further year. The structure of the contract works with Chelsea’s one-year contract policy for over 30s, which is presumably why we opted to sign Giroud ahead of AS Roma centre-forward Edin Dzeko.

Giroud’s arrival at Stamford Bridge is somewhat of a surprise, but Arsenal were forced to agree a deal with us so we would allow Michy Batshuayi to join Borussia Dortmund on loan, and pave the way for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to move to the Emirates.
That may not be that in terms of negotiations between the two clubs, though. There are still plenty of hours in the day, and BBC Sport reporter David Ornstein has claimed that Arsene Wenger is keen on signing David Luiz. This is one to keep an eye on…
Hearing whispers (nothing concrete) Arsenal have been exploring possibility of signing David Luiz from Chelsea as part of Giroud deal – as per @DavidWoodsStar yesterday – or Roma’s Kostas Manolas. Would be one or other, no idea if it will happen. Defence a clear concern #AFC #CFC
