Chelsea have agreed a fee with Leicester City for the transfer of England midfielder Danny Drinkwater, according to reports in SFR Sport.

Following the departure of Nemaja Matic to Manchester United at the beginning of August, Chelsea’s Italian boss Antonio Conte looks to have been in pursuit of a new midfielder to bolster his options in the centre of the park, despite having already signed Tiemoue Bakayoko this transfer window.

Two weeks ago, the Telegraph reported that Leicester had rejected a £15 million bid for Danny Drinkwater, with the 2015-16 Premier League champions unwilling to lower their £40 million estimation of the midfield general.

However, as per SFR Sport, the Blues now look poised to sign the Foxes star after agreeing a £28 million deal for the England international.

If signed, the 27-year-old will be reunited with his old teammate N’Golo Kante, a midfield partner with whom the Englishman won his first ever Premier League title.

Let’s hope this will be a good omen for the London club.
