The race to sign Swansea City striker Fernando Llorente appears to be hotting up.
According to Italian outlet Tuttosport, Chelsea are interested in signing the Spaniard this summer. Tuttosport note that Antonio Conte is familiar with Llorente’s strengths, having managed him during his time at Juventus.
However, the Premier League champions are not alone in the race to sign Llorente. Tuttosport believe that Manchester City are also keen to secure his services, which will provide Chelsea with stern competition.
Llorente has bagged 13 goals in his debut season in the Premier League, and would undoubtedly provide quality in reserve for our current options upfront. However, at 32-years-old, his age has to be factored in.
With Tammy Abraham’s stellar form in a Bristol City shirt, it begs the question whether we should be signing a player in the swan-song of his career that is likely to starve him of any game time.
