Chelsea appear to be close to a breakthrough in their pursuit of midfield reinforcements.
According to Calciomercato, the Blues are in pole position to sign AS Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.
Bakayoko has been enjoying a stellar campaign for Monaco so far this campaign, with his side sitting top of Ligue 1 and progressing to the semi-finals of the Champions League. He has been influential in their success this term, and his good performances do not appear to have gone unnoticed.
Calciomercato believe that Chelsea are close to finding an agreement with Monaco to sign Bakayoko, with talks having been held for several weeks. The Italian outlet believe that agreeing personal terms with the 22-year-old will also not be an issue.
Antonio Conte may well not need to break the bank in order to strengthen his midfield, either. Calciomercato believe that a fee in the region of £17million will be enough to convince Monaco to part with Bakayoko.
The prospect of Bakayoko lining up alongside N’Golo Kante in the middle of the park is a mouthwatering one.
