Chelsea are highly confident of sealing a £30 million transfer Danny Drinkwater, according to the Daily Mail. The English midfielder is believed to have been of Chelsea’s interest following the sale of Nemanja Matić to Manchester United.
The Daily Mail claim the Blues have already had a £15M bid rejected for the Leicester City star. The tabloid note that the Foxes have demanded £40 million for him but the Blues are reluctant to pay that.
As per the Daily Mail, the new offer by Chelsea is £25M plus add-ons that will raise the fee to £30M. They also report that Chelsea will launch a £30M plus add-ons bid if the aforementioned offer is turned down.
Asides from Drinkwater, the Daily Mail report that Chelsea are also interested in signing Bayern Munich’s Renato Sanches, Everton’s Ross Bakley, Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Barcelona’s Sergi Roberto.
However, anyone signed would be in for a bench role at the club as the Daily Mail claim Conte is set to play Bakayoko and Kante together in the heart of the midfield. Cesc Fabregas will likely be the next one in the pecking order, but should Chelsea switch to a 3-5-2 formation, Cesc would presumably be fielded in the ‘number ten’ role.
