Here’s a rumour that’ll give you a giggle…
Chelsea are presumably in the market for a new centre-forward in the January transfer window – we’d be silly not to be.
Michy Batshuayi has proven himself to be an able deputy to Alvaro Morata, but Antonio Conte does not appear to have the remotest interest in playing him in any meaningful fixtures.
Morata has already scored nine Premier League goals in his debut campaign in England’s top tier, but has been somewhat hot and cold – he could do with some genuine competition.
Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge, who has struggled with form and fitness in recent years, is probably not the man we’re looking for; but the Daily Mail claim that the Englishman is on Conte’s transfer shortlist.
Sturridge was part of Chelsea’s squad that lifted the Champions League in 2012. He had to depart SW6 to find his best form – could he return to rediscover it? Only time will tell…
