Chelsea are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen wide-man Hakan Calhanoglu, according to The Sun.
The Sun report that despite the Premier League’s interest in signing the Turk, there are several hurdles to scale before Calhanoglu shirts begin to print at Stamford Bridge.
Firstly, The Sun believe that both Arsenal and Lazio will provide Chelsea with stern competition in the race to sign the free-kick specialist.
The Sun also note that Bayer inserted a whopping £32.5million release clause into his contract. However, the tabloid believe that the Bundesliga outfit may be willing to negotiate if an attractive offer comes forth.
Chelsea appear to have sufficient options in the wide areas, unless any of Eden Hazard, Pedro and Willian choose to push for a move away from West London this summer.
There does not appear to be any desperate need to sign Calhanoglu, despite his undeniable quality. That £32.5million would probably be better spent elsewhere.
