Chelsea have joined the race to sign Everton attacking midfielder Ross Barkley, according to the Express.
The Express believe that Barkley is stalling over signing a contract extension with his current employers Everton, and Ronald Koeman has given him until the end of the week to make a decision on his future.
Chelsea appear to have been alerted by Barkley’s hesitance to put pen-to-paper on a new deal. The Express report that Antonio Conte has been impressed by the England international’s performances this campaign, and could be set to make a move to sign him in the summer. The Express note that Barkley wants to play Champions League football, and Premier League champions Chelsea can offer that to him.
According to the Express, Chelsea will face competition from Tottenham, but as shown by the Premier League title-race, Mauricio Pochettino’s men are not the sort of competition that should be feared.
