Chelsea are considering making a move to sign Celtic academy product Michael Johnston, according to the Daily Mail.

The Daily Mail believe that Johnston’s impressive form for the Scottish giant’s academy this season has captured the attention of the Premier League leaders, who could make a move to secure his signature this summer.

However, the Blues’ pursuit of Johnston will not be straightforward. The Daily Mail believe that both Stoke City and Derby County are also interested in signing the Scotsman. Both sides would also likely be able to offer the 18-year-old a more realistic route into the starting side than Chelsea.

The Daily Mail report that Johnston has just one year remaining on his Celtic contract, which offers any potential suitors an excellent opportunity to sign him in the upcoming transfer windows. It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will turn their interest into a concrete offer to sign him.
