Chelsea have reportedly received a boost in their reported pursuit of RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner.
Werner made a name for himself in the Bundesliga during his time with VfB Stuttgart. However, his goal-scoring exploits reached a new level after transferring to RB Leipzig in the summer of 2016.
He found the back of the net 21 times in 31 league appearances during his debut campaign at the Red Bull Arena. He has followed that up with 14 in 25 in all competitions for RB Leipzig this time around.
The 21-year-old’s good performances in Germany appear to be turning heads across Europe. According to Calciomercato, both Chelsea and Liverpool are tracking the progress of the German international, who has bagged seven goals in just ten appearances for his country.
The Premier League duo will have been offered encouragement in their pursuit of Werner, too, as Calciomercato report that he has rejected a contract extension with RB Leipzig.
This may well be a situation to keep an eye on as the clock ticks down towards the summer transfer window.
