Chelsea football club have confirmed on the club’s official website that they have agreed a fee with Atletico Madrid for the sale of Diego Costa.
Costa was influential in two title-triumphs during his time at Stamford Bridge, but his relationship with manager Antonio Conte fast deteriorated and it soon became clear that he had no future at Stamford Bridge.
The Spaniard has not featured in a Chelsea shirt since May, deciding against returning to training at the Cobham training ground and making himself available for selection. His days as a Chelsea player are now over as he returns to Atletico.
It was in Madrid where Costa made a name for himself and established himself as one of the best strikers on the planet. If he is able to rediscover that electric form alongside Antoine Griezmann in Atletico’s attack, it’ll be frightening.
We thank Costa for his service, and wish him the best of luck in the future.
