Tottenham have leapfrogged Chelsea in the race to sign Swansea City striker Fernando Llorente, according to the BBC.
As per the BBC, Chelsea have been closing in on signing Llorente for several weeks, with the Spaniard’s relationship with Antonio Conte said to be a major bargaining chip. Llorente worked with Conte during their time at Juventus, and won the Serie A title under his stewardship.
However, it looks as though Tottenham may be about to pip us to the post. The BBC report that Tottenham have made an offer out of the blue which has been accepted by Swansea. It’s claimed that Chelsea are set to rival Spurs’ bid, but it is currently too close to call which side will be successful in their pursuit.
With time running out, we cannot afford to miss out on another transfer target. It would be a real kick in the teeth to be beaten by Tottenham, too.
