Roman Abramovich has developed somewhat of a reputation for being an unforgiving owner.
Abramovich has often been accused of discarding Chelsea managers as though they were cheap toys you’d get from a McDonald’s Happy Meal – but things may be changing at Stamford Bridge.
The Russian has no reason to be discontented with Antonio Conte, his side have just been crowned Premier League champions; but it appears as though Abramovich’s affection for Conte goes far beyond any manager ever to have held the reins at the Bridge.
During John Terry’s speech, he paid tribute to his manager, and began to chant “Antonio, Antonio, Antonio” – which is often used by the Chelsea faithful to show Conte the affection he deserves.
It wasn’t just Terry, or the crowd who was singing along, Abramovich was also caught on camera joining in. This is great to see, fingers crossed he will keep faith with Conte far longer than he has other managers.
