While a few Arsenal and Tottenham supporters may choose to argue, there is no denying that Chelsea is currently the most successful football club in London.
With such talent on display, it’s understandable that the demand for tickets is high. Yet, with Stamford Bridge’s current capacity only being 40,341 there simply are not enough tickets to go round.
It is possible to pick tickets up for the ‘less glamourous’ fixtures like a Carabao Cup tie against a side from League 1 or sometimes even a Premier League match against a team rooted to the bottom of the table. But, when teams such as Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool come to town, it simply is not happening.
So, what’s the solution? Well, why not find a nice pub where you can watch the match and have a pint or two while you’re at it! Here are some great places to watch a Chelsea match arond the stadium.
The Butcher’s Hook
The pub Chelsea Football Club was founded in and is located over the road from Stamford Bridge opposite the Stamford Gate entrance.
Here you can soak up the full match day atmosphere to the extreme and many Chelsea fans come here to sing before and after games. They have large screen TVs that show every Chelsea game home and away.
Given its prime location the Butcher’s Hook is the number one place for a fan to go to watch a Chelsea match if you don’t have a ticket. However, be warned – this place gets crazy busy before kickoff.

The Tommy Tucker
For top quality food in an authentic London atmosphere, this friendly London pub ticks all the boxes and is full of Chelsea supporters on a match day. It’s only a five minute walk from the ground nestled in between Fulham Road and Kings Road.
McGettigan’s Pub and Sports Bar
Situated opposite Fulham Broadway Station, McGettigan’s is a popular spot to quench your thirst while enjoying watching a Chelsea match. As it is within a mile of the ground, there is a tremendous buzz about the place on match days.
As the name would suggest, this is an Irish pub so the menu includes a good range of Irish drinks and food. The beef and Guinness pie with mashed potatoes are among the favourite dishes served up.
There are plenty of large screen TVs tuned into Sky Sports and TNT Sport. Usually, McGettigan’s will show a range of different matches spread across the numerous screens, naturally though, Chelsea games take centre stage when they are playing.

A Final Word
Summing up, it all depends on you and your preferences. The Butchers Hook gets you as close as you can get without having a match ticket. The Chelsea Potter mixes classic with modern, so that is always a popular destination. McGettigan’s is dedicated to sports entertainment and being opposite the nearest underground station (to the stadium) means it offers a vibrant atmosphere.
