Alvaro Morata injury update: damage could be worse than first feared

Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata has suffered a grade two hamstring injury, according to the BBC.

Morata has been in scintillating form in recent weeks having signed for the Premier League champions from European champions Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

After scoring seven goals in his opening nine appearances in a Chelsea shirt, Morata has enjoyed a start to life in West London better than we could ever have hoped for. However, the Spaniard has hit a bump in the road in the shape of a hamstring injury.

He limped off during Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City at the weekend. At the time, the injury did not look serious, but as per the BBC, it is worse than first thought.

The BBC claim that Morata has suffered a grade two hamstring injury, having been assessed by the doctors from the Spanish national team. It is mentioned in the report that he could miss between four and eight weeks of action. What a huge blow to our title hopes.
