Antonio Conte has revealed he will consult Chelsea players in the build-up for the Champions League second leg match against Barcelona, The Guardian reports.
As the Blues travel to the Nou Camp, Barcelona have a slender away goals lead at 1-1 on aggregate.
Conte, who has come under criticism from his own players in selecting his line-ups will be open to receiving advice from the team, as The Guardian reports.
The Guardian quotes Conte saying:
“In every game I have to decide the starting XI and not the players, because the players are the players and the manager is the manager.
“But sometimes, before this type of game, it is more important to involve totally the players and then to listen.”
The biggest decision for the Italian to make is who will lead the Chelsea attack. Eden Hazard has shown his frustrations of playing as a false nine and we haven’t seen the brilliance of the Belgian in this position.
Despite not scoring in the 2-1 win against Crystal Palace, Oliver Giroud made his case to start for Wednesday’s match. Meanwhile, Alvaro Morata is struggling for goals as well as being low on confidence and may have dropped behind Conte’s pecking order upfront.
It is right for the 48-year-old to speak to the squad about his thought process especially in such a vital game for the club.
