- Chelsea complete zero final third passes in opening 20 mins.
- Still, the Blues lead 1-0 at half-time against Man City.
- WATCH: Kante’s superb finish gives Chelsea shock lead
Chelsea’s approach to this evening’s clash with Manchester City has been typically negative, even if we are winning.
We didn’t expect the Blues to go for the jugular against the unbeaten champions of England, but the opposite extreme didn’t seem like it was an option under Maurizio Sarri.
Both Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte would happily set us up to contain, but we didn’t think it was Sarri’s style. Perhaps we were wrong.
Chelsea produced nothing in the first-half against Man City to suggest that we have the remotest interest in winning the game, as this stat shows. Zero final third passes in the opening 20 minutes of the game.

That’s pathetic. It doesn’t matter who we’re playing, we’re Chelsea and we’re playing at home. If not for N’Golo Kante’s superb finish, we’d be raging this half-time.
City will give it everything they’ve got in this second-half, and we’re not sure if we’ll survive another half as precarious as the first. We shall see!
