Manchester City were yesterday linked with a move for Ben Chilwell of Leicester.
Reports in the Telegraph claimed that the Sky Blues will have to pay more than the £75m Liverpool paid for Virgil Van Dijk last year – currently the record transfer for a defender.
That would be a huge amount of money, but for a class, young, homegrown left back, it might just be worth it.
City already have Benjamin Mendy in that position, but clearly are always looking to get better. Chelsea’s options in that spot are Marcos Alonso and Emerson – who have both had good spells without ever really looking top class.
We might not be able to beat City to his signing in the end, but what we MUST do is at the very least compete for him. We can force the price that our rivals pay for him at the very least, and hopefully get him ourselves.
City already have a better left back than us and are looking to upgrade. That’s the kind of attitude we need to take on if we want to catch up with them.
I thought we couldn’t sign anyone for 1 year anyway
Total crap
