Chelsea cannot afford slip against lowly Cardiff as Champions League race goes down to the wire

Chelsea’s season is in the balance over the next few weeks, and the result on Sunday will hopefully be a good one, and add some momentum to our season again.

The games against Slavia Prague – touch wood – should be winnable fairly easily. So the next few weeks are all about the Premier League, where we have an easier run.

Following our trip to Wales, we’ve Brighton and then West Ham at home. We can’t take anything for granted this season, and we’ve lost easier games already, but if we could somehow take 9 points from these weaker sides, that will mean keeping us right in the top four race until the very end.

Lose against Cardiff and our dreams are pretty much over. The rest of the season would be a procession with all focus switched to the Europa League – a much riskier path back to Champions League football.

Whatever we can do with this stretch, it all starts with three points at the Cardiff City stadium.
