Contract talks with Thiago Silva and Jorginho have begun as Chelsea bid to extend their time at the club, according to Gianluigi Longari of Sport Italia TV.
Silva’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season after signing a one-year contract in the summer last year, while Jorginho’s deal runs out in 2023.
It seems the Blues are wasting no time in helping Thomas Tuchel safeguard his squad with other clubs keeping a close eye on any player who may become available.
Silva has the option of a further year extension as part of his contract, but Chelsea are allegedly keen to keep the Brazilian for two more years until the conclusion of the 2022/23 season *

The 36-year-old has already admitted he is open to extending his stay in west London, stating in November 2020:
“This is my first experience in the Premier League. I hope to continue to play well and my contract will be renewed.”

At the same time, ex-Chelsea boss Frank Lampard stressed how big an impact the Brazilian veteran was having this season. He said:
“He’s very important. He brings experience, he brings qualities on the pitch, and he brings a leadership which has been very impressive.
His daily attitude to training, his focus and preparation for games I think is something that rubs off on the other players.”

As for Jorginho, Chelsea are exploring the possibility of extending his deal by a further two years to the summer of 2025.
It remains to be seen if the club are simply moving to protect his value, or if rumours are true that Tuchel has been a long-term admirer of the midfielder.
