Mason Mount’s second-half performance against Southampton was impressive. He put in a show to bring Chelsea back into the game after they went trailing, from Minamino’s first-half goal.
Mount won Chelsea’s penalty in the 54th minute by inviting Southampton striker Danny Ings to make a poor challenge. The 22-year-old coolly slotted the set-piece himself into the bottom right corner, sending goalkeeper Alex McCarthy the other way.

However, Mount’s most sublime piece of skill during the encounter came when he dribbled past Djenepo and nutmegged Bednarek, to leave the Polish left-back confused as to where the ball is.
The budding midfielder, who increasingly looks like he’s ready to take the captain armband, made 24 attempted passes in the final third – with 18 of them being successful, the highest among any of the Chelsea players. He also created 2 chances throughout the game. (whoscored.com)
