Although Joao Felix and Luis Suarez were not at their best in Chelsea’s 2-0 victory at Stamford Bridge, it was down to the performance of one man who made his presence known like no other among the 22 players present. N’Golo Kante was at his stupendous best, once again.
His man of the match showing saw many key battles being won by him but perhaps one move where he showed what he actually contributes to the team came with the Blues’ second goal on the back of a stunning counter-attack.
Although it was Pulisic who made the fantastic run through Atletico’s midfield, it was Kante’s underrated & flawless ‘dummy sprint’ within 8 seconds from his own box to the Rojiblancos’ penalty area that caught many eyes,

He could have very well finished the play if Pulisic had passed the ball to him, instead of Emerson. Kante’s man of the match display was key to Chelsea progressing through to the final eight of the competition.
He put in a wonderful performance in the first leg, but the second leg is where he truly showed what he is capable of.
