Reading and French youth international Michael Olise is on the radar of three top European clubs – including Chelsea. Manchester City and Bayern Munich are the other two.
The London-born French international is a versatile attacking midfielder who shines best when running down the right wing, but also can play as an inverted left-winger. His versatility and team-play skills have been instrumental in Reading’s free flowing football in the Championship this season.
With a market value of just €12m, Olise’s signature will arrive as somewhat of a bargain.
The fact that he can operate with both feet in a variety of positions in midfield playing as a ‘creator’, only strengthens the intent of the clubs wanting to sign him.
What many do not know is that Olise was a part of both Chelsea and Manchester City academies before. He was not retained by either club, but now is the talk of a remarkable transfer move.
Former Reading manager Jose Gomes handed the youngster his senior debut in 2019 for Reading and since then, he has witnessed him perform tremendously with his natural talent and skills.
Gomes spoke highly of him in an exclusive interview with Sky Sports:
“It is impossible not to feel happiness when watching his movements and his technical ability.
He loves to play football and he has the courage to try magical things even in tight areas. Things that some players cannot even do in training, he will do them in a game.”
Among the three interested clubs, Bayern are reportedly leading the race to sign the midfielder.
His contract at Madejski Stadium runs out next year in June 2022 and Reading will be looking to cash in on the talented forward before he becomes a free agent.
He has appeared 38 times already this season, scoring five goals and assisting ten times – with a total playing time of almost 2,850 minutes (transfermarkt)
