(Report): Real Madrid virtuoso in contention to land at Stamford Bridge

Lucas Vazquez is a name that rings a soft spot for Madridistas. The talented midfielder is known for the versatility he adopts as the situation demands. Zidane has used him remarkably as a right-back in a season that has seen Dani Carvajal sit out due to injuries.

Chelsea are reportedly eyeing a move for the 29-year-old, who is also being touted for a move to Bayern Munich and Manchester United – according to Spanish news outlet ABC.

In addition to the aforementioned clubs, Italian giants AC Milan &  Everton are also keeping a close eye on the situation.

Reports from Madrid state that he has rejected a contract renewal offer at the Santiago Bernabeu and is looking for a change of playing environment, although he is one of Zidane’s favourite players.

The most recent contract talks put forth included a three-year deal but also a 10% pay cut due to the pandemic losses.

Although the Blues possess a strong team sheet in the defensive half, an addition like Vazquez is unquestionably an advantage to have. Youngster Reece James is likened as the future of the club in the right-back/wing-back position, but Vazquez’s experience cannot be undermined.

Vazquez joined Real Madrid youth team in 2007, aged just 16 and now has gone on to win a fantastic three UEFA Champions League titles in the Spanish capital among 9 other trophies.
