Scrolling through X last week I spotted this post below and to be honest, I think it’s pretty spot on.
Chelsea fans were signing against Behdad Eghbali and BlueCo once again at the weekend, even after we had just beaten Charlton Athletic 5-1. And that for me just emphasises the deep feelings these fans now have, feelings that are not just going to disappear. They were also singing for former owner Roman Abramovich all game and of course, have protests planned for the Brentford game – protests that I think are going to be much bigger this time.
The club are obviously fully aware of the planned protests and all that has been going on, and I would not be surprised to see them react in some way after the protests. But let’s see on that.
Anyway, to the fan view…
Chelsea fan, who is just known as Fullington Fulbright on X, was involved in the last protests against the owners, and he is involved in the latest ones as well. He’s been very vocal on all things he thinks the owners are doing wrong, and his latest post, which features 5 points, I actually think holds decent weight.
This is what he posted:
My personal feelings on BlueCo and management of the club are these:
1) Winstanley and Eghbali CANNOT continue interfering in team selections. This is part of a culture of protecting player values over results and its acutely damaging to the club’s status and success.
2) The obsession with ‘playing style’ has to end. Chelsea have rich history of winning major trophies playing in a variety of styles, from Vialli to Ancelotti to Mourinho to Tuchel. Style doesn’t matter, results matter.
3) Stop spending ridiculous sums on unproven, untested punts with past connections with members of staff. This is categorically NOT ‘data led recruitment’, it’s favours for the boys.
4) We can support recruiting promising young players, we cannot support spending tens of millions on them when we seemingly refuse to buy elite footballers to guide, advise and lead them.
5) Quit the relentless briefing and lies. Fans aren’t stupid. Stop telling us how ambitious you are, stop telling us you’ll break your wage structure for an elite player, stop telling us about 4 window plans and 100 point teams, and actually DO IT.
Is there really going to be many Chelsea fans who don’t agree with the majority of all of that? Nope, I don’t think so.
