Chelsea have been watching a young Spurs talent since January, although their best chance of signing him has now gone.

Our writer Simon Phillips has been on the transfer beat, and he’s dug up a fresh exclusive for us.

His sources tell him that Chelsea are watching a young Sweden international – hardly unusual, but what is surprising in the player’s identity and current club.

Lucas Bergvall has been really good for Tottenham when he’s been on the pitch, but like of their team had an injury blighted season.

Chelsea were apparently hoping that Tottenham were relegated so they could swoop in and sign Bergvall. The bad news is that they stayed up – and that will make the mission of signing the 20 year old much more difficult.

Given how many attackers and wingers they have, there’s still an off chance they decide they’re open to selling at least one of them.

But would they really sell to Chelsea? They’ll do all they can to avoid it, that’s for sure.

In other news…

Xabi Alonso is going to have a number of new players to work with at Chelsea next season, and we still don’t really know what his plans are for most of them.

Yasin Ayari is a name that many people are starting to mention as he shines at the World Cup. Chelsea are now being linked with transfer interest in him.
