It’s not been confirmed by the clubs yet, but Fabrizio Romano has confirmed it so we all know it’s coming – Marco Palestra’s move to Chelsea.
The first major incoming deal of the summer for the Blues is an interesting one, and Kieran Gill’s piece for the Daily Mail has a full rundown of how it all happened.
Chelsea signing has mentality, physicality and versatility

They note some of his key qualities: first his versatility. He’s two footed, can play either side as a wing back or a full back. That’s four different positions Xabi Alonso could use him in, right off the bat.
Secondly, his physicality: he’s 6’1 and lightning quick. He had the highest average sprint speed in Serie A last season and won an award for it.
Don’t take it from us, take it from the Cagliari sporting director who signed him on loan a year ago:
“He has everything: physique, strength, speed, dribbling. We’re talking about a complete player in every way. He’s also a great guy who lives for football, has a beautiful family that supports him, also a good agent. He has everything it takes to have a great career.”
We’re sold.
In other news…
Trevoh Chalobah is looking more and more like he will leave Chelsea this summer, with Fabrizio Romano connecting two clubs in Italy with transfer interest in the defender.
Alejandro Garnacho is another player Chelsea could sell this summer – Ben Jacobs has noted that the club aren’t pushing for a sale, but would listen to offers for the winger.
