Marco Palestra is almost a Chelsea player, and while he looks like a top player, it does create questions for others in the squad.
Primarily a right wing back, Palestra will compete with Reece James. That is Malo Gusto’s usual role, and it now looks very likely that the Frenchman is sold this summer. Another question is over Josh Acheampong, the youngster who was third choice right back (in theory) last season.
The Daily Mail’s piece on the Palestra signing got some intel on plans for the 20 year old.
Palestra arrives puts Acheampong future in doubt

“Daily Mail Sport made checks on Chelsea’s 20-year-old academy graduate this week, and club sources tell us they view Acheampong as a centre back, rather than a full back or wing-back like Palestra
It’s the same old story we get with Acheampong every time – the club rate him, the club love him, the club won’t sell him or loan him, the club know how good he is.
Then the games come around and he barely features, even when injuries have struck. We have learned not to believe any of the briefs.
In other news…
There was plenty of other good Palestra content coming out today, with his former sporting director gushing about his abilities.
Trevoh Chalobah is looking more and more like he will leave Chelsea this summer, with Fabrizio Romano connecting two clubs in Italy with transfer interest in the defender.
