Matteo Moretto of Marca has been leading the way in terms of reporting on Chelsea’s interest in Rayo Vallecano full back Pep Chavarria, and he’s back today with another update.
The Blues have now apparently agreed personal terms with the 28 year old, and all that remains is for the clubs to find a mutually agreeable transfer fee. Moretto says that Chelsea have already made an opening offer of €12m, which Rayo will reject. The side from the Spanish capital want more than €20m for their defender.
Chelsea likely to end up paying Rayo’s demands for experienced full back

Considering the money wasted by this ownership on young players who have never got near the first team, €20m would be pretty reasonable for a player who looks like he could come in and contribute right away.
Of course, given his age, Chelsea want to pay as little as possible to reduce the FFP damage down the line. But we think it’s very likely they end up reaching Rayo’s demands, once bonuses and add-ons are considered.
Let’s just get this one done – preseason is about to begin.
