Swansea City agree deal to sign Chelsea starlet on season-long loan

Chelsea academy product Tammy Abraham is set to join Swansea City on loan for the 2017/18 campaign, report the BBC.

The BBC believe that Swansea, who narrowly avoided relegation to the Championship last season, have fended off competition from Newcastle and Brighton, who were promoted from England’s second tier.

As per the BBC, the deal to take Abraham to the Liberty Stadium is expected to be completed on Wednesday, which means he will be a Swans player by the time their pre-season tour begins this month. He’ll undoubtedly be hoping to get off to a flying start and stake his claim for a place in the starting eleven ahead of the start of the Premier League season.

The BBC note that Swansea manager Paul Clement knows Abraham well from his time at Chelsea as a coach, and appears to have been impressed by the progress that the 19-year-old has made. Fingers crossed he gets the invaluable Premier League experience that he needs to progress into the player he should, one day, become.
