Chelsea host Burnley this weekend as Thomas Tuchel searches for his first win as the new Blues head coach.
After a promising start last time out against Wolves, which ended in a 0-0 draw, it was evident to see Tuchel had started to implement his own philosophy just days into his reign.
Burnley come into the game full of confidence, winning their last two Premier League matches. Chris Wood scored a late header as they beat Aston Villa 3-2 on Wednesday and Ashley Barnes scored a late penalty to end Liverpool’s 68 game unbeaten run at Anfield in a 1-0 win for Sean Dyche’s men.
Hakim Ziyech, Kurt Zouma and Timo Werner all scored in a 3-0 win for the Blues in the reverse fixture at Turf Moor back in October.
Team news
In Thursday’s press conference Tuchel confirmed N’Golo Kante had returned to training and is in line to start on Sunday. He (Tuchel) also hailed Kante as a world-class player and see’s his strongest position in a double 6 so it will be interesting to see how he lines up on Sunday at Stamford Bridge. (chelseafc.com)
Mason Mount, Reece James and Tammy Abraham were all left out of Wednesday’s stalemate against Wolves, but Tuchel admitted his team selection was based on experience and the choices he made were totally unfair after just one training session.

Callum Hudson-Odoi put in a strong performance in an unfamiliar position at right wing-back in the former PSG man’s first game in charge. Hudson-Odoi who only started 3 Premier League games under Frank Lampard will be hoping to become a regular member of Tuchel’s starting eleven.
Christian Pulisic came off the bench for the last quarter of an hour against Wolves is also pushing for a start. He’ll be hoping that his former manager at Borussia Dortmund can help him rediscover his excellent form he showed at the back end of last season.
Thomas Tuchel on Mason Mount:
🗣️ “I’m very happy to have him around and I will not stop pushing him, I will not stop guiding him and I will not stop trusting him. There is nothing to worry about.”
