Chelsea possess a player-agent in their ranks. Antonio Rudiger has extended his services as a possible agent, in addition to being a regular face in Tuchel’s starting eleven.
The center-back has revealed that he maintains close contact with his German national team counterparts, and more importantly his Bayern Munich friends.
David Alaba made it clear earlier this week that he would be leaving Bayern on a free transfer after spending 13 years with the Bavarian giants. Chelsea were left empty-handed after reportedly hunting for a new center-back in the winter transfer window – with Bayern duo Niklas Sule and Jerome Boateng also being touted as possible contenders and Dayot Upamecano securing a move to Munich.
Speaking to Christian Falk of BILD, Rudiger told he has already ‘been in contact’ with the Austrian.
He said –
“If Chelsea were to decide on one of the three players as a transfer target, I would be available to answer any questions. I know Jerome and Niklas very well and I’ve already had contact with David Alaba.”
This is not the first time Rudiger has come forward to help Chelsea gain the services of top German talent, having before revealed he spoke and possibly influenced Kai Havertz and Timo Werner to move to West London. His actions have helped him gain a fashionable nickname – ‘Agent Rudiger’. (thesun.co.uk)
When asked by a fan in a tweet reply – if Rudiger does realize he would end up to be replaced by Alaba himself, Falk replied –
“I asked Toni about this. His answer: If I can help then anytime, I don’t have the envy factor.”
However, Alaba’s move seems increasingly unlikely for Chelsea, mainly due to his astronomical wage demands, while it remains to be seen how the situation develops with Sule & Boateng.
For now, Real Madrid seem to be leading the race to sign the versatile defender.
