Entering the top four is only half the job done, according to Antonio Rudiger. The tough part is staying up there. In what seemed impossible only two months ago, Thomas Tuchel’s Blues have remained unbeaten in ten games across all competitions.
Ancelotti’s Everton are Chelsea’s next adversary and Rudiger believes they are as tough an opponent as any. Speaking to chelseafc.com, Rudiger said:
“I will expect exactly the same sort of intensive game again because Everton are also a good team.
They are on a good run at the moment and are in good form, but we are too. It will be an exciting game and we are up for it. It’s a tough game and they are also a competitor for the top four.
It was a massive three points against Liverpool. It felt like a complete performance. The defensive display from everyone was spot on and we can take a lot of confidence into Everton now.”
Speaking further on Tuchel’s impact on the team, the German added:
“The coach always speaks to us and he always tells us to play our football. Like we are at the moment, to keep pressing high. He is making us feel that we should always stay calm, never worry and he advises us exactly what to do and this is what we are doing.”
Chelsea face Everton in a crucial encounter that will have major ramifications on how the table shapes itself at the end of the season.
Tuchel’s eleventh match in-charge might be his toughest since taking over after Liverpool, Manchester United and Atletico Madrid failed to pose any real kind of attacking threat.
