Chelsea were knocked out of the Carabao Cup after being defeated 2-1 by Arsenal at the Emirates.
It was the visitors Chelsea who took the lead through Eden Hazard. The Belgian raced through on goal, kept his cool and fired past David Ospina to give the Premier League champions an early advantage at the Emirates.
However, our lead did not last long. Nacho Monreal headed towards goal after latching onto the end of an Arsenal corner. His header deflected off the head of Marcos Alonso, onto the head of Antonio Rudiger and into the back of Willy Cabellero’s goal. It was a freak own-goal and you have to see it to believe it. Arsenal then scored another fluke of a goal, with Granit Xhaka this time getting his name onto the scoresheet. Rudiger already had an own-goal on his conscience, and he then provided Xhaka with the assist for his goal. It was a night to forget for the German. Click here to see the Gunners’ winning goal.
