Baba Rahman: Chelsea’s first departure since Tuchel’s arrival

Chelsea have offloaded left-back Baba Rahman to Thessaloniki-based Greek club PAOK, according to the Daily Mail.

Rahman, who moved from FC Augsburg in 2015 for €26m, has appeared for the Chelsea first-team only 23 times – in only one season (2015/16) at the Stamford Bridge. Since then, his career has been as a journeyman, being loaned out for three consecutive seasons in the Bundesliga with Schalke 04, before spending two seasons as a loanee at Stade Reims and RCD Mallorca. The Blues have now loaned out the Ghanaian full-back to PAOK until the end of the season, on a six-month deal. A loan transfer that looks likely to turn permanent. This will be Chelsea’s first transfer departure since Frank Lampard bid adieu and the Blues welcomed Thomas Tuchel. (DailyMail)

It will be his third loan spell in three seasons, having only played three matches this season for Chelsea U-23 in the Premier League 2, against Liverpool, Everton and Manchester United.

His value has dropped more than fivefold to €2.5m in the past five seasons due to underwhelming performances, injuries and lack of game time.(transfermarkt)

Previously, he has also been linked with a move to Championship side Middlesbrough and Wolves. Rahman’s Chelsea career never took off and he will now seek to make amends in Greece.

PAOK sit currently in fourth place and are in a fight for the second spot, way behind first placed Olympiacos, who are set to win the Super League Greece again.
