Chelsea’s pre-season campaign is underway, but judging by this report on the club’s official website, Antonio Conte was not present.
It was previously claimed by the Times that Conte had clashed with Chelsea over their plans for pre-season. He did not want his players to return until Monday, but today is Saturday, and they’ve already been hard at work at Cobham.
Chelsea posted an eight-photo slideshow on the club’s official website of first-teamers such as Cesc Fabregas, Marcos Alonso, Tiemoue Bakayoko, and the rest, but Conte was not featured in any of these pictures.
There was also no mention of the Italian in the report. You’d think that his name would at least be mentioned if he was to have any involvement in the work being done on the training ground in the coming days.
Time has officially run out. Chelsea need to either sack Conte or allow him to see out the remainder of his contract. These coming hours could prove decisive.
